Al our rooms have extra large beds, airconditioning, flatscreen tv, coffee and thee facilities, internetacces, bathroom with bath and a separate toilet. We also have a familie room for 4 people. All our rooms can be used as single, double or twin.

Food & beverage

In the area of Blokzijl you will find many excellent restaurants. There are 2 one Michelin starred restaurants that can be reached within 2 walk: Kaatje bij de Sluis (located on the other side of the bridge) and the Hof van Sonoy. In the town of Giethoorn, about a 10 minute drive away, you will find the 2 Michelin starred restaurant de Lindenhof. The restaurants Prins Mauritshuis and Kommekie are also within walking distance from the hotel.

Area information

Blokzijl is situated in an area abounding in water. There are excellent opportunities to explore the area by boat or by bicycle. The "Weerribben", one of the most beautiful natural landscapes in the Netherlands, is at just 10 km from the hotel.

Kaatjes Résidence is located in the city of Blokzijl, next to the bridge. This small luxury hotel is situated by the waterside and has a beautiful garden. This modern, yet elegant, hotel consists of 6 rooms, one suite and a lounge, all of which feature quality furnishings. Breakfast is served in the conservatory or if the weather is good, in the terrace that backs on to the waterside. In the summer months many pleasure craft sail into the harbour to moor along the quay. The area around the hotel is famous for its national parks which can be visited by boat or bicycle. Across the street you find the Kaatje bij de Sluis restaurant which offers you an excellent gourmet dinner.

Hotel information

The cafe- restaurant section of the hotel will be closed on Wednesdays during the off season (September – May). If you have a booking during this off season and will be arriving on a Wednesday, we kindly request that you provide us with an indication of your arrival time upon booking. For dinners, you can always visit one of the nearby picturesque villages of Blokzijl, Vollenhove or Giethoorn.

Hotel Geertien harmonizingly coupled with café and restaurant offers you 14 comfortable rooms, of which two are suites. All of them have a luxury bathroom, direct-dial telephone, internet and satellite television. Some rooms provide a splendid view over the lake. The rooms of Hotel Geertien have a friendly look, thanks to the well-balanced use of materials and colours. Very comfortable beds will guarantee a good rest during the night.

By car: Coming from the West of the Netherlands: - You take the A6 to Emmeloord and take exit number 15, then drive towards Blokzijl (N331) and take the N333 to Steenwijk - After Blokzijl you will find Muggenbeet after ca. 3 km (exit Geertien restaurant) on your right hand side Coming from the South via the A28 to Zwolle: - After Staphorst, take the exit to Meppel (A32) - Via Steenwijk, drive towards Emmeloord (N333) and after ca. 9 km and two bridges you will find Muggenbeet on your left hand side Coming from the South via the A50 to Zwolle: - Take the N50 to Emmeloord - Take the exit to Ens and via Vollenhove and Blokzijl (N333) you will find Muggenbeet after ca. 3 km (exit Geertien restaurant) on your right hand side Coming from the North via the A7 Leeuwarden, Groningen or Heerenveen and then via the A32 to Steenwijk or via the A28 to Assen, Meppel and Steenwijk: - Drive towards Emmeloord (N333) and find Muggenbeet after ca. 9 km and two bridges on your left hand side (exit Geertien restaurant) Coming from Enschede or Emmen you can follow Meppel and Steenwijk (N333) to Muggenbeet

Quick description

Hotel-restaurant Geertien is located by the water between the Weerribben and the wieden. This hotel has an excellent cuisine. Furthermore you can walk, sail and cycle in the beautiful environment. It's delicious to relax on our terrace in the summer.

Important information

Please note that off season, the restaurant is closed on Tuesdays (open upon request from reservations starting from 6 people) and Wednesdays. During pre season, the restaurant is closed on Tuesdays. During high season, the restaurant is open 7 days a week.
