In the hotel's relaxing wellness oasis, an indoor pool, a Finnish sauna, a steam sauna, a relaxation room and a small fitness room await you. Beauty treatments and massages can be organised on request.

The hotel offers cosy single, double, triple and family rooms (with 2 separate bedrooms), with seating corner and balcony or terrace. 2 rooms feature a kitchenette. The lakeside rooms afford a wonderful view from the first and second floors.

Food & beverage

The menu of our traditionally furnished hotel restaurant features a choice of seasonal, regional and international dishes. The hotel bar with its small snuggery invites you to linger all through the day. In addition, our open-air terraces, one of which has a fireplace, let you relax in wonderful tranquility, surrounded by unspoiled nature.

Area information

The Gerlitzen is Carinthia's largest ski area. High above Lake Ossiach, it invites beginners, advanced learners and pros alike to enjoy its broad, snow-reliable slopes for unlimited skiing pleasure. Leisure and fun between mountains and lakes - in the region you can enjoy diverse sports such as water sports, hiking, mountainbiking, Nordic walking, walking, horseback riding and golf. There are two hot springs in the vicinity - Warmbad Villach and Bad Bleiberg, offering first-class spa facilities.

Travel information

By car: - From Germany and Salzburg: Motorway A10 towards Villach, exit "Villach Ossiacher See". - From Vienna and Graz: Motorway A2 to the Villach interchange, then motorway A10, exit "Villlach Ossiacher See". - From Italy: Frm Udine and Tarvisio to the motorway A2 and the Villach interchange, then motorway A10, exit "Villach Ossiacher See". From the motorway exit "Villach Ossiacher See": Follow B94 in the direction of Ossiacher See/Feldkirchen to Bodensdorf. Follow the main road until the BILLA supermarket, behind which you turn left into the Gerlitzen Alpenstraße. Follow the switchback road until you are at 1,300 metres above sea level. You have arrived at your destination. On the way up the mountain, you pass a toll station. Pull a ticket and hand it over to the reception. You will then receive a toll-free pass for the duration of your visit. By train: There are many train connections to Villach from Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands. From there, take a regional train to Bodensdorf. On prior request, we will pick you up from the station. By plane: The Carinthian capital of Klagenfurt, about 35 kilometres away, has an airport with daily connections to Vienna, Cologne, Hanover, Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt, London, Zurich and Paris.

The Alpenhotel Birkenhof awaits you in a beautiful mountain location at 1,300 metres above sea level, with wonderful views of Lake Ossiach and the Carinthian mountains. Situated amid a stunning natural landscape, along the panorama road to the Gerlitzen mountain, and 8 kilometres away from Bodensdorf on Lake Ossiach, the hotel offers 20 cosy rooms with balcony or terrace. There is also a restaurant, a bar and a small wellness area with a sauna, a steam bath and a fitness room. Wireless internet access is available as well at the Alpenhotel Birkenhof.
